What a crazy first week! We started out with 35 new friendly faces Monday morning. It was a little hairy in our room but we got through it! Despite the challenges that we faced we have started to build a great classroom culture. We spent the week working on routines and procedures and explored a few amazing books along the way. Monday we read First Day Jitters by Julie Danneberg and had some Jitter juice of our own to calm our nerves, Tuesday we read David Goes to School by David Shannon and talked about school rules. We made David’s of our own to decorate our classroom with. Thursday was Chicka Chicka Book Boom by Bill Martin. We tried to see if all the letters would fit on the coconut tree, found letters hidden in balloons that we had to put in order, tossed a beanbag onto a palm tree and build the numbers on a life size ten frame, and made palm tree letter headbands to wear, and taste tested some real coconuts. We closed the week up with Pete the Cat I Love My White Shoes by Eric Litwin. We worked on sequencing, colors and made our own Pete’s! We had so much fun!
