On Thursday our students participated in the Bunny Hop run. The students had such a fun day running laps of the field trying to beat each other for the most laps. We had some great runners out there! Once they finished running may of them got some yummy snacks! Ice cream and popcorn were served. If that wasn’t exciting enough, during their recess time all students got to participate in our Spring Carnival! Prizes were even awarded to some of our friends! What a great way to end the week!
Would you like the Cat in the Hat to come to your house? Our Kinders completed an opinion writing piece during our Read Across America celebration week. They even showed how much their cutting skills have improved by creating Cat in the Hat ladies and gentlemen to hold their writing. They are getting so good at forming opinion writing! Be careful parents, some of our kiddos said they’d love to have the Cat in the Hat over to their house to play! We did a science experiment based on Seuess’ book Bartholomew and the Oobleck. We had such a great time playing with a material that is a liquid but then transforms into a solid and back again. A special guest even stopped by to say hello! What a fun day it was!
Last week was a pretty rough week here in Kindergarten. We had many kiddos out with various illnesses. Unfortunately it was also a very exciting week! We started off the week with 100’s Day. This is where we celebrated the 100th day of school!. We did some really fun counting activities, changed our faces into 100 year old people, and even made portraits and wrote about what we think our lives will be like if we live to see 100!
Here’s some of our ideas:
- I will have to use a wheel chair
- I will have to use a cane
- I will sit in a rocking chair
- I will have a beard
- I will have wrinkles on my face
- My hair will turn grey
- I may be bald
- I will walk slowly and quietly
- I will no longer have pets
- I will need help doing things
- I will need to take pills each day to stay healthy
- I will drink coffee
- I will have dentures
- I will need hearing aids
- You must talk loud for me to hear you
- I will eat eggs and vegetables
- I will get fat
Wow! Doesn’t getting old sound like so much fun! HA!
A couple weeks ago we had some very special guests visit us in Kindergarten. One of the Apache Junction Fire crews came out to teach us about fire safety. This was such a cool and engaging experience for our students. They started by showing us a video presentation with some fire safety information. The crew brought some of their gear and put it on so we could learn about what all the different pieces do and how it keeps them safe. Firefighters can look kind of scary during an emergency so they dressed up in their gear and moved around the floor so we could see and hear what it would sound like if they were trying to find us in an emergency. We realized that they aren’t that scary after all! At the end of their visit we even got to go onto the fire truck!
