Blog Guidelines

Blogging is a great way to keep up to date with what is going on in our classroom. However, there are important things to remember when contributing to our class blog. Here’s a few…

1) Please keep names limited to first name only. Parents, this is a good idea for you as well.

2) Never give information to anyone not approved by your teacher or parent.

3) Please keep your posts professional! Your job in school is to do your own outstanding work. Your job, when working on our blog, is to keep up that level of work. Check your spelling, punctuation, and word choice. Reading a blog is like reading a newspaper, magazine, book, or any other form of published text. Please do your best to write as an author.

4) This blog is a part of our classroom. In our class we will support each other and keep a positive attitude. Please remember to also be that way when adding to our blog.

This blog will be a work in progress not only by me, but by the students of our class. Check back often to see if your friends or your children have posted an update of what we’re up to!

    Dear Ms. Myers’ Class,

I teach 3rd grade in Massachusetts. I ventured into the blogging world this year with my students and am excited to see your blog! I love that you said you and your students are a “work in progress.” We, too, are a work in progress. At first, I edited my students work to “perfectly publishable pieces.” As I learn more about all the blogging possibilities, I am now publishing my students’ writing throughout the writing process. I want them to learn that even “published” pieces are never perfect, and that they can get ideas from others on how to improve their writing. Do your students have any advice for my students about writing interesting blog posts or comments?

    Mrs. Freeman
