Santa’s Missing List: Part 2

Dear Readers,


We didn’t give up. We traveled the world.

Santa’s List is Missing and We’re on the Case!

Last week, we discovered that Santa has lost his Naughty and Nice list. While we understand that this might be a good thing for those on the naughty list, we want to make sure us good kids get our presents!


We began our search by “texting” our friends the news. It was so exciting, we couldn’t keep it to ourselves! img_20161219_140158


After that, we decided to visit some places around the world, to see if Santa had accidentally dropped his list, while he was sightseeing. Using latitude and longitude clues, we used Google Maps to visit places like The Great Pyramids, the Statue of Liberty, Victoria Falls, Mount Everest, and the Eiffel Tower.


Once we find the list, we still need to get it back to Santa in the North Pole! Stay tuned to see what happens next in this mystery!

Inventions Then and Now: Haden

Recently, our class combined a reading standard, of comparing and contrasting, with our science standards of investigating inventions. Haden decided to compare and contrast video games of the past with those we know today. Take a look at his perspective.

Democracy in Action!

With the presidential election on everyone’s mind, we decided to make our own voices heard on a very important topic:

Should Mr. Hixson keep his beard?


Our amazing class volunteer, Mr. Hixson, came up with the idea to have the students decide his fate! We chose leaders from each side of the vote, and they presented their cases. Tommy made the persuasive point that he really likes a white beard. Jaicee and Anna provided support for the nay vote with the opinion that the beard covers his handsome face. After their allotted argument time, it was time to hear what the rest of the citizens of Room 505 thought.

The Results Are In!

After the final votes were tallied, the final result was that Mr. Hixson would indeed keep his beard (that is, until summer when it’s too hot)! IMG_20160413_121035Once again, democracy has been an important part of our life in room 505.

Dear Readers,our class did this fun experiment
called Saving Sam. To do this you will need:A plastic cup,live savers(gummy),gummy worm,and four paper clips.
We had groups and we all worked together.This is how my group worked.We unwrapped all the paper clips so we can stretch the gummy life saver.Then we made a hook
shape with the paper clip to pick up Sam.Finally,we got Sam in!After that we got our own life saver and gummy worm.
Everybody got Sam in. After we waited for some groups to finish.They got to eat some too.

Hi my name is Jesse and today I will be talking about saving Sam

The first thing you need is a plastic cup. the second is a bag of gummy worms. The third detail is a lifesaver. the forth detail is tow paper clips.This is all you need but then there is more to do. Now you need to put the lifesaver under the cup then you put the gummy worm on top then you try to put the gummy worm into the lifesaver.
