Tonto National Monument Park Ranger

Ranger Jen came last week.  She was excited because she hadn’t been to any schools yet this year.  She came all the way from Tonto National Monument.  She showed us the animals that live there and she even told us what a vertebrate is and an invertebrate is.  A vertebrate is an animal with a back bone and an invertebrate is an animal that does not have a back bone.  She taught us different kinds of adaptations.  We played a game.  She put pictures on animals on our backs and we had to ask our friends questions about the animal.  I guessed mine right.  I had a snake.  The game was really fun.  We played three rounds.  Then she told us what was in her box.  It was a skull.  It had really big teeth and looked kind of scary.  She was really great.  By Ruth

Ranger Jen works at Tonto National Monument.  We learned about vertebrates and invertebrate animals.  We learned all about vertebrates where she works.  She told us a song about adaptations.  Ranger Jen showed us some skulls of animals.  The first skull she showed us was from a warthog.  Ranger Jen showed us a game we had to guess the animal on our back.  Ranger Jen is so funny and fun!
