Progress Report grades are done in ParentVue, and were completed Monday.
The time has come! We are testing today and tomorrow for Math and Reading AZMerit.
Please send permission slips back for the field trip asap 🙂 Reminder that our field trip to Sun Splash is on Monday, May 15th. The cost is $8 for students (thank to generous PTO who helped pay half their cost), and if you are interested in being a chaperone please indicate so on the slip or email me. The cost per additional chaperone is $14.
There is no SS Weekly or Moby Max Reading Informational this week. Instead, we are doing a fun Power Point project all day Thursday on an assigned African country.
Moving forward we have less than 20 days left! Time is moving way too fast.
The students filled up our 100% AR Board for a second time this year! Whoo Hoo! The winner of the drawing was Skyllar Burnham.
This week we have AZMERIT Writing on Wednesday at 9am.
Grades are updated for Reading, Writing, Language Arts, and Math (for my math kids). Please check your student’s grades my logging into ParentVUE. You can get a log in from the front office if you have not logged in before. I will offer extra credit towards the end of the Quarter for any student that is interested. 🙂
There are only 26 and a half school days left of this Quarter! Please follow up with your student weekly with their Behavior Calendar, Reading Log, Homework. Keep checking student’s back packs for graded assignments and tests.
We will drawing again this week for our AR Board Contest! $20 cash will be given to the winning student. I am so proud of the students for filling the board twice this year. Hopeful we can fill it one more time before summer.
Have A Great Week!
Our monthly Mustang Pride Assembly will be on Thursday, March 30th in the cafeteria at 9am. Hope to see you there!
AZMerit sample tests will be used in the classroom as an instructional tool. You can access these anytime at home by clicking on this: AZMerit Sample Test and logging in as a Guest.
We had a great first day back! Every student was ready to get right back into the swing of things and it made for a really smooth day.
In Math we are moving forward with 7th grade Quarter 1 standards. This week’s is adding and subtracting rational numbers, and interpreting sums in real world contexts. In order to solve, students need to recall concepts already learned this year. It keeps them engaged in what they are learning!
In Reading we are filling in any gaps not mastered on the Posttest Benchmark in preparation for AZMERIT. 🙂
Students have a homework packet each week this Quarter, in addition to their Reading Log. Please go to the Cactus Canyon Information Night on Wednesday. Your student has a flyer in their backpack!
There will be no tutoring this Quarter.
I hope you all have a fun and relaxing Spring Break planned at home or on a trip. We are done with Quarter 3, and have completed Benchmarks. A copy of Benchmark Scores, and Report Cards will be sent home after Spring Break. Please encourage students to read, read, read, read, read, Read, Read, Read, READ, READ, READ over Spring Break! At least 30 minutes per day is the new STAAR standards for Quarter 4 students in 6th grade. Parent support on this is really appreciated.
There was a lot of growth this year, and I am so proud of each student’s effort. Every one is eagerly anticipating Spring Break. Here is a candid photo from this morning. 🙂
We are having our Valentines Day Party tomorrow Tuesday, from 12:15-1:10. The foods are chip and dip, with root beer floats. If you are able to send a bag of chips, a dip, or a jug of rootbeer to school that would be great! I have plenty of plates and cups.
Please join us for an Art walk of our Art projects for Cells: Plants vs Animals. This will be Wednesday from 2:25-3:00. Come any time in that window to walk around and look at the projects.
Please take a moment to fill out the Parent Survey by going to our School website and clicking on it(bottom left).
