Mad Science Day 2014

It is a tradition in our class to have what we call Mad Science Day on October 31. On that day, we spend all day learning about science and doing hands-on science investigations. This year, we had so much fun on Mad Science Day, we decided to have it twice! Last Friday our third grade classes had our second Mad Science Day of this school year. Here is what we did:

We love science, and Mad Science Day gives us the chance to have fun with it all day!

  1. Dear Mrs. Hamman’s Class,

Your class did an amazing job with those experiments. We liked the soda geysers! We are curious to find out about the oil spill experiment. Our class is doing it tomorrow, so we had to fast forward through that part of your movie. One of our favorite activities was Saving Sam! That was an adventure! Our second favorite was the jelly bean classification.

Thank you for sharing your cool day with us,

    • Thank you for your comment, Mrs. Moore’s class! You’ll have to let us know how the oil spill experiment goes in your classroom. Saving Sam was one of our favorite activities, too.

  2. Dear Mrs. Hamman I enjoy being in this class room by Brooklynn.

  3. How cool! I love the idea of a “Mad Scientist Day.” Where do you get your ideas for this tradition? I am inspired to try this at my school.

    Mrs. Vazquez

    • Hi Mrs. Vazquez! Thank you for your comment. We started doing Mad Science Day instead of a Halloween party in our classroom a few years ago; I think I originally got the idea from a teacher on Twitter. It’s always a highlight of our year!
