Our Class Quote of the Week

August21

by Mrs. Renzulli 2012

During last week’s story with Donavan’s Word Jar, students were asked to collect special words that they have encountered within their reading that are meaningful to them. Once they’ve found that special word, they then had to create inspirational quotes that were enlightening, motivational and or had a positive purpose.

Students then had to write that special quote and drop it in our own class word jar. Each week a quote is drawn from our word jar. So here are our  winners for this week.  Enjoy their quote and please take the time to post a comment and or reflect what you think that quote means to you. Thank you!

The story is called How To Babysit An Orangutan. There are people that take care of the orphan Orangutans so when the Orangutans grow up they can survive alone. They babysit them because when there alone in the jungle they have to do everything alone. Then when all the Orangutans grow up they skills and then the babysitters let them free in the jungle. All the babysitters hope they will survive alone.

Tristen Says:

Orangutans live in Camp Leakey located in the middle of the rain forest on the island of Borneo. Birute Galdikas and her friend are the ones taking care of the baby orangutans. It is not a “Forever” job. Orangutan’s use huge leaves to cover themselves from the rain that pours down on them they hate water. Orangutan games almost always include biting. Most orangutans like to eat the soap when they take baths. A wild orangutan would sleep in its mothers nest for five to six years. The babysitters at Camp Leakey have released over 100 orangutans back into the wild. These ex-captives have become wild again.

Brian Says:

How to Babysit an Orangutan. First you have to find an orangutan that needs babysitting. That’s easy at camp Leakey. Located in the mid dle of a rain forest on the island of Borneo, Camp Leakey is not your average camp. It’s really an orangutan orphanage. Ordinarily, orangutan babies don’t need human babysitters, but the mothers of these little red apes have been killed and the orphans are too young to survive alone in the jungle. Without babysitters, all the babies would die from disease, starvation,or injuries.By Brian
