Part of Edublogs Challenge 2 was to look at a few of the places Miss W would be visiting and recommend places for her to see. We created a Glogster of what we found.
Our class began our study on Native American Units. To kick it off we joined Mrs. Goucher’s class and made prickly pear jelly from thw fruit of a prickly pear cactus. Enjoy this video of our students explaining the process.
As we patiently wait for the new class challenge to start on Edublogs, some visitors from last year may have noticed I redesigned the blog look.
If you look at the top of our page you will see two new tabs; Weekly Journal and Reviews. The weekly journal is a question for my students to answer about something we are learning, but we encourage others to come on over and respond to our questions as well.
The Reviews tab is going to be brimming with book reviews as we begin our 40 book challenge this week. Every week two lucky kids can review a book they have read as we try to accomplish reading 40 books from different genres by the end of the year. Enjoy!
We have had a blast so far learning about science this year. We have done three projects so far to help us learn some important science lessons.
Our first project was working as a team to build straw structures. We had to design a structure that would hold pennies. Watch our animoto to see the fun!
Then we used the Scientific Method to SAVE FRED!
We also demonstrated what we knew about plant and animal cells by creating them out of Jello!
With a new school year and a new challenge comes a new class. We learned about Quality Comments today from the fabulous video that Mrs. Yollis’s class made. Here is a wordle about the ideas we got from her video.
It’s time for school. The summer has flown by and I am so excited about getting ready for my new 4th graders this year. I am also excited about continuing our blogging journey as well as learning and exploring new ideas in technology.
This posting comes a little on the late side but summer is officially here and we have been out since May 26th. I hope everyone enjoys their break. I will be updating the blog here and there so come back soon!
