Family Participation

by student bloggers Rudy and Soledad for Blogging Challenge #8: Are you connecting?

We are in different fourth grade classes and this our first year involved in blogging. “I like that we get to meet a lot of new friends on the Internet,” says Soledad. Rudy added, “I like that you get to see a lot of comments that people make, and that you can see what other classes are doing and their special projects they are working on.” They both love that their families comment on their class blogs. Their families comment frequently, including parents and all their different aunts and uncles.

Their families learned about the blogs because the teachers have informed the parents, and because it was easy to find the blogs because they frequently link to each other. Then the relatives heard about all the cool things they are learning, so they wanted to see it too… and then they started commenting about their projects.

Does your family like to hear about what you are learning? If so, you should have them comment on the blog.

How do you get family participation on your blog?

    Dear Mrs. Goucher and class,
I will tell my mom and dad that they can comment on class blogs when ever they want to. I think this is a good way for your parents and teachers to communicate and a good way for parents to know what is going on at school.

This is so cool! What a great way to learn and share with others. I enjoyed reading about the 5 C’s of Arizona. One thing I thought was interesting was that copper is one of the top resources for Arizona. We have copper here in Michigan too. It was an important mineral resource in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. When I was a little girl, I found some pieces of copper on a camping trip and I still have them! I can’t wait to see what else your class does.

The house is petrified bceause it has a light on the very top story and it is set at night with a car as creepy as a box of ghosts outside the house. The air is misty bceause the car engine has broken down bceause of an MOT failure and the bin outside the house looks like it’s alive bceause its got 4 legs and is as dark as a pitch black room. The house will explode at any second even though it’s as big as a whale and as creepy as a spider it could blast off the ground like a rocket with turbo charged 900 litre v90000 engine with 2 little aliens to steer it.
