Welcome to a New Year

Posted on

We are about a month into school and getting established as third grade students.  Each one of us have things they would like to see and do as a student in third grade.  Parents have these same wishes for their children.  What are some things you would like to see and do in third grade?  How do you hope to learn?  If you are not in third grade, but a student in another grade, what do you hope your teacher will do to make learning exciting for you?  Your thoughtful comments will help our class become an engaging environment.

  1. My 3rd grade teacher was Mrs. Dietz. She was wonderful. Learned a lot from her. One thing that I will never forget is trying to eat an artichoke in her classroom. Yuck!!

    • Lilly,

I am glad you are enjoying the sign language. I hope we have many things this year that you will find enjoyable. What specifically would you like to do on the iPads? Do you have an iPad at home?

    • Dear Isaiah,

I can’t wait for us to start learning division and multiplication. Before we start those skills, we have to make sure the class has the right skills to build on. What are some projects you would like to do? I am interested in hearing your ideas.

I love the blog. Will we be able to make our changes to the blog soon? I had an idea for Science. We stick an egg in vinegar and let it sit for a while. Does that sound cool?

    • Dear Claire,

Thank you for responding to the blog. I love your idea for the science project. Would you be willing to research some information on that experiment for me? I think it sounds really cool. To go one step further, do you think we could experiment on other food items soaking in vinegar? I wonder what that would do?

  3. Dear Mrs. Fraher,

I’m so sorry it took so long to get back to you. I forgot I wrote to you. I just wanted to let you know that I do not have a ipad at home and I don’t know what I would like to do on them either. I just think there so cool that we should use them every day. Do you happen to know how much they cost? Right back soon.

    • Ethan and Gabe,

Thank you for your comment. Right now my students are hypothesizing on surfaces that carry the most germs. We have exposed bread to our tongues, desk surface, and the bottom of a shoe. Which one do you think will grow the most mold?
