My passions student blogging challenge #2

September 26, 2012 by Ethan · 4 Comments · Books, Games, Student Blogging Challenge

My passions are: reading books, doing puzzles, and playing board games.

This is how far I am now.

My first passion is reading books, it is my best passion. What I like about reading books so much is that I get to sometimes learn something. Also what I like so much about reading books is that I get sucked into the book.

My second passion that I love doing the most is doing puzzles. What I like about doing puzzles is that I have to find out where every piece goes. Right now I am doing a 1000 piece puzzle. It is so fun because I have to find out where a lot of people go.

This is what it will look like.

My third passion is playing board games. What makes this my third passion is that I get to be able to be with family and friends while I’m playing a game.

What are your three favorite passions and why?

This is the second student blogging challenge.

On October 1 I finished the puzzle. I lost one of the puzzle pieces, so now I have only 999 pieces of the puzzle.

Among The Hidden, Book Review

March 8, 2012 by Ethan · 2 Comments · Books, Learning

Among the Hidden is by Margaret Peterson Haddix. This book is about a boy that is a third child, named Luke (third children are outlawed). In the beginning of the book Luke was dieing to go outside. He was always able to go outside and help on the farm and play. He could do that all the time, until people were cutting down trees and building houses there. This was horrible for Luke. Now that people were outside Luke’s family had to keep the blinds shut and Luke now had to eat at the bottom of the stairs. That later that day Luke was keeping track who was in and out of their houses, when everyone in a house was out of it he saw a face in a window. He thought to himself “was that another third child? Who could that be?” He was tempted to go over to that house and see if that face was just real. The next week he went over to the house to see if the face was real.

Is the face real?

What will happen next?

Will he meet anyone?

If so, how will he or she react?

New Year with Mr. Davo Devil

January 4, 2012 by Tracy Watanabe · 10 Comments · Books, Games, holidays, Life, Sports

I spent New Year’s weekend with Davo in Arizona. Here are 12 things we did to welcome 2012:

  1. We played Q-bitz which is a visual puzzle and game. To play this game, you have to flip a card and make the design on it as fast as you can. The objective is to finish before the other person.
  2. We played Around the World: The Ultimate Board Game. I did much better with this game because Davo has traveled several countries now and have met many people. Here were some of his favorite questions:
    • Indonesia was colonized by which of the following empires: A) Dutch B) American C) Chinese
    • From which country do Aborigines originate? Hint: Aborigines are the first inhabitants of this country.
    • Which group of people is referred to as Kiwis?
    • In which continent is the Great Barrier Reef located? Hint: It is the world’s longest coral structure

3. Davo and I went to the Apache Junction Public Library to check out a couple of books. We got Among the Hidden and The 39 Clues.

4. After I finished the first book of The 39 Clues, I got permission from his parents to make an account online to play the game. It was intriguing because you go on a mission and get clues from around the world to complete the mission.

5. We played Lego Star Wars 3: The Clone Wars on the Wii. Davo had a hard time playing.

6. Davo got to play goalie when my family and I went to play soccer.

7. We enjoyed creating Circuits such as radios, a microphone that amplifies your voice, burglar alarms, lie detector, doorbells and much more!

8. Davo helped me with his Brain Benders puzzles. It was a good thing Davo has four paws to keep the pieces in place.

9. Davo helped I make homemade alfredo sauce for dinner. It was so scrumptious, and really easy to make! I was so glad we got to help make the dinner.

10. After dinner, we had a Nerf gun war. Since Davo is small, it was really difficult for me to hit him.

11. Davo helped me make a delicious dessert. We just put the pretzels on the cookie sheet and unwrapped Hersey kisses to place on top. After they melted, we stuck a peanut butter M & M on it. Yummy!

12. On New Year’s Eve, we tried to stay up real late to count down on the clock, but unfortunately Davo fell asleep at 9:45 pm. Playing all day wore him out.

I originally wrote this post from Mr. Davo Devil’s blog, with the help of Mr. Davo Devil.

What did you do to bring in the New Year?

Do you know any of the answers to Davo’s favorite Around the World questions?

If you went to my house, what of the things we did would be the most interesting for you?

What are your favorites? There are so many favorites in the world it’s hard just to pick one. I will be telling you about three of my favorites. The reason why I’m doing this is because of the student blogging challenge asked about our favorites.

Some rights reserved by matthewjuran

My favorite video game is Minecraft. I like Minecraft because I get to mine and build anything I want to. I’ve built an under ground house, I’ve also farmed, mined, and I’m breeding animals.

My favorite sport is soccer. I like soccer because it is fun to play. My family has played soccer too. This season, I’ve also made a goal in a game.

My favorite series of books is the Warriors series. I like the series because it’s about cats . They have to learn to live in the wild. It’s hard for them because there are clans, the clans fight each other for food and territory.

Now you know some of my favorites.

What are your favorites?

Did you know anything about my favorites?
