This year we will be participating in the 2013 Global Read Aloud. The book we will be reading along with thousands of other students is Marty McGuire by Kate Messner. We are not only excited to read the book, but also to make global connections! We are looking forward to connecting with a class from Southey, Saskatchewan this upcoming week. We have already connected with a class from Massachusetts through Edmodo. Their teacher, Mr. Colombo, had a great idea to kick-off the book, so we copied it! Mrs. Moore read us one sentence from the back of the book. It was, “Marty would rather spend recess catching frogs in the pond than playing dress-up with the other girls in third grade.” Then, we answered the question, “What would you rather do? Play dress-up or catch frogs?” Watch the video to learn about what our class thinks is the best way to spend our free time.
